All-Region Orchestra Results

Since the start of school, orchestra students have been working independently to prepare for and compete in All-Region. This year the competition was Virtual, students submitted their personal best recordings of select repertoire online and were judged individually against 450 other musicians in Frisco, McKinney, and Prosper. We are so proud of the artistry, tenacity, and patience our students have shown during this process!

Instrument and String Support

August 19, 2020
We are so excited to already be playing this year! Students will be playing during their orchestra class and spend time practicing throughout the week as we review and start to work on technique, solo repertoire, and ensemble music with our students.
We start every year by reviewing instrument care and tuning with our students, and we are able to help them with tuning in class. Tuning should happen every time a student plays their instrument. Instruments can go out of tune from changes in temperature, humidity, and not being used for a period of time. As our students practice tuning it’s possible that if they’re new to peg tuning they could break a string while learning. This is normal and should not be something students or parents should panic about!
Most rental stores will provide replacement strings if your student is renting from them as part of the package and at no additional cost. However, often they will ask that you leave the instrument there to be re-stringed which can take more time and students will miss out on playing in class and fall behind in homework.
We suggest getting a new string from your rental store or a local shop if you own your instrument and sign-up for a time where Mr. Desai and I can help you setup your instrument. You may also purchase a replacement string from us through our Orchestra Store here.  We will provide no contact re-stringing, instrument adjustments, and in-person peg-tuning tutorials for student independence. Instruments should be in the trunk or backseat when you arrive at the auditorium driveway across from the tennis courts.
If you need instrument support please sign up for a time here: Instrument Support Appointment.
